"The estimated 270,000 Arab East Jerusalemites are already confined to a mere 13 per cent of East Jerusalem while more than 85 per cent of the city has been seized by Jewish authorities since 1967, when Israel occupied East Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank."

With the UN Security Council approving sanctions that target Iran's shipping industry, a senior Iranian lawmaker says the country will retaliate likewise.

*False Flag incident?
While international investigators have accused North Korea of sinking a South Korean patrol corvette in March, China has taken a more cautious position.
Propeller Investigative journalist and RT contributor Wayne Madsen says it is because Beijing suspects there was greater deception at work.
“The Cheonan [navy corvette] was sunk by this torpedo that was later to be discovered to have been of German manufacture. Germany said it sells no military weapons to North Korea. This thing is starting to look like a classic false flag operation,” Wayne Madsen says.
“Kim Jong-Il who very rarely travels – and when he does, he only travels by train – went to Beijing. My sources in Beijing say that he went to Beijing, that Chinese authorities said that North Korea did this, he denied it. They were satisfied with his response,” Madsen adds. “Now the Chinese are very suspicious of the US’ intentions in richening things up in the Korean peninsula.”

*Lebanon boosts defense
The Lebanese army has beefed up defenses along the country's southern border, launching a military exercise against a backdrop of Israel's ongoing war games.
Lebanon deployed its 11th infantry brigade along the western sector in the south, media reports quoted the country's al-Manar TV network as saying on Wednesday.
Security officials in Beirut said forces were deployed across the border with Israel "in order to thwart any possible offensive from the enemy, and close any loopholes that it might use during an attack scenario."
The officials also said the army was ready to counter any possible Israeli incursion.

*Believe nothing
"Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true." [paraphrased Buddhist saying]
Americans have a problem with the truth. They seem to be unable to accept it, which is difficult to understand at a time in history when knowledge plays a larger and larger role in determining human action. Recognition of this problem is widespread. Beliefs and lies somehow always overwhelm truth, even when they are so contradictory that any effective action becomes impossible. A kind of national, psychological paralysis occurs. Nothing can be done because one belief contradicts another, and for some unknown reason, the facts don't matter. Even during those times when an overwhelming belief does compel action, Americans rush headlong into it neglecting the adage that headlong often means wrong.
"…….Paul Craig Roberts writes, "Today Americans are ruled by propaganda. Americans have little regard for truth, little access to it, and little ability to recognize it. Truth is an unwelcome entity. It is disturbing. It is off limits. Those who speak it run the risk of being branded 'anti-American,' 'anti-semite' or 'conspiracy theorist.' Truth is an inconvenience for government and for the interest groups whose campaign contributions control government. Truth is an inconvenience for prosecutors who want convictions, not the discovery of innocence or guilt. Truth is inconvenient for ideologues." Unfortunately he casts the blame on the characters of people: "economists sell their souls for filthy lucre. . . . medical doctors who, for money, have published in peer-reviewed journals concocted 'studies' that hype this or that new medicine produced by pharmaceutical companies that paid for the 'studies. . . .' Wherever one looks, truth has fallen to money."

*More attacks in Pakistan..
The Times Square bombing suspect apparently operated as a "lone wolf" who did not work with other terrorists, according to the general who oversees the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But investigators believe he had some bomb-making training in Pakistan, a second senior military official said.
Petraeus: Times Square bomber likely acted alone - (May 7, 2010)
My thoughts: The US government is using the Times Square bombing and the alleged connection to Pakistan as a reason to increase attacks in Pakistan.
The approval given to the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) by the administration of President Barack Obama to expand drone strikes in Pakistan's tribal regions is on face value a declaration of war by the US inside Pakistan. The move comes at a time when Pakistan is trying to win some breathing space to delay an all-out operation in North Waziristan, home to powerful militant groups and an al-Qaeda headquarters.

*North Korea and Israel
North Korea and Israel have a lot in common.
Neither is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and both employ their nuclear weapons in elaborate games of peek-a-boo with the international community. Israel and North Korea are equally paranoid about outsiders conspiring to destroy their states, and this paranoia isn’t without some justification. Partly as a result of these suspicions, both countries engage in reckless and destabilizing foreign policies. In recent years, Israel has launched preemptive strikes and invaded other countries, while North Korea has abducted foreign citizens and blown up South Korean targets (including, possibly, a South Korean ship in late March in the Yellow Sea).

US nuclear arsenal: A TOTAL OF 5,113 WARHEADS
- Israel: SOLE NUCLEAR POWER IN THE MIDDLE EAST WITH OVER 200 NUCLEAR HEADS
The United States disclosed for the first time on Monday the overall size of its nuclear arsenal, saying it had a total of 5,113 warheads operationally deployed, kept in active reserve and held in inactive storage. Moreover, Israel is believed to be the sole nuclear power in the Middle East with more than 200 nuclear heads and is not even a signatory for the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT).
However, Washington and its main ally Israel are impudent enough to attack Iran’s peaceful nuclear program claiming Tehran is seeking to develop a nuclear bomb and threatening to impose more sanctions against the Islamic republic.

*Drill Baby DRILL!
From: Bartcop
"During the 2008 election the Republicans, raising their angry voices, were all chanting “Drill Baby Drill” as the solution to America’s energy needs. Now with 200,000 gallons of oil a day pouring into the Gulf the reality of why we need to get away from oil is washing up on our shores. When it comes to making good decisions you have to look at the big picture and think things through rather than just find a three word slogan that angry people can chant. It’s time for people to take responsibility, turn to reality, and come up with solutions to our energy problems that actually work." -- Marc Perkel Rantz

*Iran

In an interview with the German publication, Freitag, Noam Chomsky talks about U.S. pressure on Israel and Iran and its geopolitical significance. "Iran is perceived as a threat because they did not obey the orders of the United States. Militarily this threat is irrelevant. This country has not behaved aggressively beyond its borders for centuries. Israel invaded Lebanon with the blessing and help of the U.S. five times in thirty years. Iran has not done anything like this," he says.´

Chomsky: Iran is perceived as a threat because they did not obey the orders of the United States. Militarily this threat is irrelevant. This country did not act aggressively beyond its borders for centuries. The only aggressive act occurred in the '70s under the Shah's government, when, with U.S. backing, they invaded two Arab islands. Of course nobody wants Iran or any other country to have nuclear weapons. It is known that this state is governed today by a loathsome regime. But apply the same labels that are applied to Iran to partners of the U.S. such as Saudi Arabia or Egypt, and it will only be lost to Iran on human rights. Israel invaded Lebanon with the blessing and help from the U.S., five times in thirty years. Iran has not done anything like that.
Chomsky: Because Iran has followed an independent path and not subordinate to any order of international authorities. They behaved in a manner similar to what Chile did in the seventies. When this country was ruled by the socialist Salvador Allende, it was destabilized by the U.S. to produce "stability." It was not a question of any contradiction. It was necessary to overthrow the Allende government - forcible "destabilizing" - to maintain "stability" to restore the authority of the U.S. The same phenomenon is occurring now in the Gulf region. Teheran objects to the authority of the USA.
What can the European Union do to resolve the tension of this so explosive situation ?
Chomsky: It could reduce the danger of war. The EU could put pressure on India, Pakistan and Israel, the most prominent non-subscribers to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, so that they finally sign it. In October 2009, when they protested against Iran's atomic program, the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) adopted a resolution that Israel defied, that this country sign the Treaty of Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and allow access for international inspectors to its nuclear systems. Europe and the U.S. negotiated to block this resolution. Obama made Israel know immediately that it should pay no attention to this resolution.
*AFRAID to listen?
"US lawmakers on Friday denounced Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's plans to join a major UN nuclear disarmament summit next week in New York and urged he not be given a visa to attend.
"This is preposterous, and allowing it to happen will make a mockery of the effort to stop the spread of nuclear weapons to rogue states and terrorist groups," 14 Republican senators wrote to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton."
""There is simply no compelling reason for Ahmadinejad to be allowed to enter the United States," they said. "The US government has the legal authority to deny Ahmadinejad's request and bar his entry -- even if he is transiting only to the United Nations. We ask that you exercise that authority."

*John Hagee
Television Pastor, political activist, and end-times evangelist Pastor John Hagee believes the recent eruption of the volcano in Iceland is a result of England breaking God's covenant.
In a speech to 3,200 people at the Lancaster County Convention Center last week Pastor Hagee stated that on the day after Britain's Advertising Standards Authority said the Western Wall in Jerusalem could not be used in Israeli tourism ads in Britain because it is considered occupied territory, the volcano erupted, shutting down Britain's economy in one day.
"That's coincidence, like the flood was a coincidence. That's coincidence, like the Red Sea was coincidence. That's coincidence, like the earthquake and the Resurrection was coincidence," as part of John Hagee Ministries' Rally and Prophecy Seminar. This is according to Lancasteronline
Hagee also told the crowd Thursday night that the United States is also on its way to breaking a covenant with God.
"(President) Obama is beginning to treat Israel like the worst enemy," Hagee said, because Israel wants to continue building houses for Jews in Jerusalem."

My notes on Pastor John Hagee:
(1) Hagee left his first family years ago because he was having an affair with his current wife.
(2) John Hagee has said that God approved of the Nazi Holocaust. Jews deserved it as divine punishment for the refusal to worship Jesus Christ.
(3) He believes that gays deserved to be swept out to sea and drowned in coastal hurricanes He called Hurricane Katrina God's punishment against New Orleans for a planned gay pride parade.
(4) John Hagee, along with other Christian Evangelical leaders created Christians United for Israel (CUFI).
(5) John Hagee is a Christian Zionist. He believes that that God's covenant with Israel continues.
(7) Here is a video made March 2003, (before the war with Iraq started) video of John Hagee proclaiming President Bush as the messiah… "I believe that God has raised George Bush up for this time in history to crush Saddam Hussein." John Hagee thought the Iraq war was justified. As WE all know, warhaholic John Hagee was WRONG on Iraq.

Then there are fans for the ultimate conservative lunatic, Rush Limbaugh, who spreads disinformation. FAIR, the organization that challenges media bias and censorship, has established that "...sloppiness, ignorance and/or fabrication is run of the mill in Limbaugh's commentary."
On the other side of the aisle, liberal commentators Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews and Rachael Maddow tend to go into attack mode against conservative members of Congress and the media.
The same is true of major Western newspapers like the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal. They have extremists who placate both conservatives and liberals."

*Republicans block debate
Support the Fair Elections Now Act: fix Congress to restore trust in our democracy
"Most Americans - the bottom 95%, anyway - feel that Wall Street businesses which played a role in the economic crisis should not have been giving out any bonuses whatsoever for such epic failures. If the individuals running those businesses had any conscience at all, they would never have needed this fact to be explained to them via the media. It is unacceptable to reward such egregious behavior with bonuses that in many cases represent more money than many Americans earn in a year.
So, why do we give Congress similar treatment as those same Wall St. businesses? Congress has been doing a piss-poor job of working for the American middle class for how many decades now? While American middle class wages have been stagnant, Congress has consistently voted for its own pay raises, along with gov't benefits like taxpayer-funded healthcare, while running the country into the ground.
I say it's time to put an end to that entitlement completely: Gov't and Congress, like Wall St., should be rewarded according to how well the country is doing. Why should taxpayers continue to pay congressmen close to $200k (and rising) for such shoddy work? Maybe all political leaders in America should work on an incentive basis? I'd like to see an independent panel decide if Congress deserves any sort of pay raise, and a pay cut should always be on the table."

*US image overseas stays low
Iraq, Afghan wars drop bombs on US image abroad as Obama's fame fades
U.S. lawmakers are working on how to reverse the country's flagging image in Muslim nations. President Obama's election brought a welcome surge in U.S. popularity, but that reputation's on the slide as the unwelcome wars in Iraq and Afghanistan continue.
My thoughts: President Obama started off with good intentions. Bush probably did too. But like all American Presidents, their power is actually limited.
The majority of Americans have no idea what their government does in their name to cause others all over the world to hate them. The majority of Americans continue to think all their "problems" and all their "enemies" will be wiped out by military means, by dropping million dollar "smart" bombs.
How many "terrorists" do you think you need to kill before you completely wipe out "terrorism"? Have a number of people in mind? Need to kill thousands more in hopes that a few "terrorists" will be among the "collateral damage" (innocents killed)? Shame on Americans who still think the Iraq and Afghanistan wars were/are justified.
By the way.. how's the Trans Afghan Pipeline coming along?

*Gun control
Carrying loaded pistols and unloaded rifles, dozens of gun-rights activists got as close as they could Monday to the nation's capital while still bearing arms and delivered what they said was a simple message: Don't tread on me.
Hundreds of like-minded but unarmed counterparts carried out a separate rally in the nation's capital.
The gun-carrying protesters in Virginia rallied on national park land, which is legal thanks to a new law signed by President Barack Obama that allows guns in national parks. Organizers said it's the first armed rally in a national park since the law passed.
The District of Columbia's strict gun laws, however, generally make it illegal to carry a handgun, so rally participants there were unarmed.
My notes:
(1) The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution (adopted in 1791) is the part of the United States Bill of Rights that protects a right to keep and bear arms.
(2) Attorney General, Eric Holder, calls for gun ban calls for gun ban - (wanted to reinstitute ban on sale of assault weapons) - (Feb 2009)
(3) The debate between those who want more gun control and those who want no control will continue to wage on.

*Marketing to distrust
Enron logo at: PR Watch
Goldman Sachs, Halliburton, Monsanto, Blackwater, Bank of America, Citigroup, Cigna, Aetna, Enron, Arthur Andersen, Mercury Insurance, Philip Morris ...These are just a few corporate names that engender feelings of distrust, anger and betrayal. They represent scandals, greed, blatant disregard for public welfare, lavish spending of taxpayer money and other negatives, and serve as reminders about how corporate wrongdoing has brought shame on our country and harmed millions.
But as the public grows more distrustful of big corporations, corporations are fighting back by evolving more clever and sophisticated forms of public relations. Their goal? To manipulate public attitudes and assure that widespread negative feelings don't block their ability to do business. Increasingly, corporations are engaging in variations on the theme of "corporate social responsibility," to try and persuade us that they can be trusted again.
