Children in Afghanistan
Waraholics think they will "win hearts and minds" by throwing a couple of bombs on the heads of people in Afghanistan. The latest "errant" bomb in Helmand Province killed AT LEAST ten people, including 5 children. The military tries hard to avoid civilian deaths, but isn't this supposed to be a WAR? War is all about KILLING.
American's definition of civilians "mistakingly" caught in the cross fires of war is "collateral damage." "Collateral damage" were innocent, defenseless people with dreams (just like American's dreams) for a happy, secure life. They had family and friends... family and friends who will naturally be angry and who may want to RETALIATE against the NATO and American forces occupying THEIR country. Unfortunately retaliation is never ending. Wasn't that the FIRST flip, flop flipping reason why Americans wanted to go to war in Afghanistan... to RETALIATE for 9/11? Can Americans not understand why the families and friends of loved ones you kill (whether it be a "mistake" or not), may want to RETALIATE against YOU too?
The US and NATO want to gain control of this part of Afghanistan and set up a government there more in agreement with the corrupt President Karzai's government in Kabul. This may indeed happen. A puppet government may eventually be set up in that province. But the Taliban will always be there. They are patient. They can hide for years, eventually come out of hiding and wage havoc with whatever puppet government is in power at the moment.
By the way, how's the building of the Trans-Afghan Pipeline coming along through Helmand Province?
