*Robertson is a disgrace

Former conservative US Presidential candidate, Pat Robertson, an internationally recognized "holy than thou" waraholic religious televangelist broadcaster, continues to make a fool of himself. He believes that God sent the Haitians an earthquake to teach them a lesson. He recently remarked that the Haitians had a "pact with the Devil" and that it was this reason that bought Haiti the recent devastating earthquake.

He tried to explain his remarks on his TV show, "700 Club" show by saying that "They (Haitians) were under the heel of the French... and they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, "We will serve you it you'll get us free from the French." Robertson continued: "True story. And so the devil said, 'OK, it's a deal.' They kicked the French out. the Haitians revolted and got themselves free. Ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other." 

What does Pat Robertson call HIS pact with the corrupt President of Zaire (now called "Democratic Republic of the Congo), Sese Seko Mobutu? Mobutu systematically enriched himself by siphoning off the profits from the sale of Zaire's extensive mineral resources for his own use. (Note: See my post dated Dec 15, 2009 "Atrocities in Congo (DRC)


 On Feb 16, 1992, Protestants and Catholics in Zaire were holding a demonstration asking for reform. Mobutu's troops opened fire on the demonstrations. Despite the bloody massacre that followed, coupled with crtiticism by the US state Department, Pat Roberstson was among the first in line to wine and dince with the corrupt Mobutu in Zaire.  Robertson's pact with the devil involved a DIAMOND mining operation. The airplanes used for Robertson's tax-exempt humanitarian organization to help spread God's word, were actually being used "exclusively for his diamond mining business, say two pilots who flew them." (2)
