*Expect Iran "violence" soon?

President Barack Obama's national security adviser is citing a heightened risk that Iran will respond to growing pressure over its nuclear program by stoking violence against Israel.
The adviser, retired Marine Gen. James Jones, said history shows that when regimes are feeling pressure they can lash out through surrogates.
He said that in Iran's case that would mean facilitating attacks on Israel through Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza. Iran helps arm Hezbollah and Hamas.
Jones also alluded to the prospect of additional international sanctions being applied to Iran as one factor in making Iran feel greater pressure. He said another factor is internal pressure _ an apparent reference to street protests against the Iranian leadership over the disputed presidential election last summer.

My thoughts: Does this mean we should expect a "false flag" attack soon... An attack that will blamed on Iran... An attack that will be used to justify a war with Iran? The date for the completion of Iran's Bushehr nuclear plant has recently been pushed back from late March to late Sept 2010. In any case.. a couple of months for waraholics to get their "ducks in order."

*Focus on Iran

                                             "IAEA" source: InWorldReport.net

The corporate media have been given their orders to throw the focus back on to Iran.
Here is a recap of what they are trying to make you forget.

1. Last Spring, Rose Gottemoeller, an assistant secretary of state and Washington's chief nuclear arms negotiator, asked Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Israel refused.

2. The United Nations passed a resolution calling on Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and to submit to inspections. Israel refused.

3. The IAEA asked Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and to submit to inspections.Israel refused.

4. Iran's formal notification to the IAEA of the planned construction of the backup fuel-rod facility underscores that Iran is playing by the rules of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty which Iran has signed.

5. Iran allows IAEA inspections of all its facilities.

6. Contrary to face-saving claims, it appears that the US and Israel were both caught off guard by Iran's announcement. The reasoning is simple. Had the US or Israel announced the existence of he new facility before Iran's notified the IAEA, it would have put Iran on the defensive. As it is now, the US and Israel seem to be playing catch up, casting doubt on the veracity of Israel's claims to "know" that Iran is a nuclear threat.

7. The IAEA and all 16 United States Intelligence Agencies are unanimous in agreement that Iran is not building and does not possess nuclear weapons.

8. In 1986, Mordachai Vanunu blew the whistle and provided photographs showing Israel's clandestine nuclear weapons factory underneath the reactor at Dimona.

9. Israel made the same accusations against Iraq that it is making against Iran, leading up to Israel's bombing of the power station at Osirik. Following the invasion of 2003, international experts examined the ruins of the power station at Osirik and found no evidence of a clandestine weapons factory in the rubble.

10. The United Nations has just released the Goldstone Report, a scathing report which accuses Israel of 37 specific war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza earlier this year. Israel has denounced the report as "Anti-Semitic (even though Judge Goldstone is himself Jewish), and the United States will block the report from being referred to the War Crimes Tribunal at the Hague, thereby making the US Government an accessory after-the-fact.

We all need to be Joe Wilson right now. We need to stand up and scream, "LIAR!" at every politician and every talking media moron that is pushing this war in Iran. And we need to keep dong it until they get the message that we will not be deceived any more.
Israel wants to send your kids off to die in Iran, and YOU are the only one that can stop them.

*Two more months?

US deploys warships to Iran's southern waters

In addition to imposing new sanctions on the Tehran government, the US has reportedly begun beefing up its military presence and war paraphernalia off the Iranian coast.

US military officials told AP on condition of anonymity that Washington has taken silent steps to increase the capability of land-based Patriot missiles on the territory of some of its Arab allies in the Persian Gulf region.

Patriot missile systems were originally deployed to the Persian Gulf region to target aircrafts and shoot down missiles before they reach their target.

According to the officials, who were expounding on the classified information in a Sunday interview, the US Navy is also upgrading the presence of ships capable of intercepting missiles.

Call for Blair to face trial in Scotland - (Jan 31, 2010)

My thoughts: Tony Blair, along with GW Bush have on their hands the blood of THOUSANDS of innocent, defenseless people who had nothing to do with terrorism or with 9/11. THOUSANDS of "coalition" troops have been killed because of their lies. Both Afghanistan and Iraq were invaded on false pretenses. Blair and Bush, along with their administrations, are war criminals and should be bought to trial. Those of you who so quickly and without question supported these wars should try to figure out why it was too easy to obtain your support so it won't happen again in the future.

*Howard Zinn

             Howard Zinn will be missed

Howard Zinn led a life of principle and resistance. His death today (Jan 28) by heart attack is a tremendous loss to the people around the world. Few people so consistently used their platform and respect to shine a light on the crimes being committed in our names, to turn people on to the truths this system tries to hide, and to foster a climate and spirit of resistance and truth-telling. He stood against the U.S.'s unjust wars for empire.
He excavated the buried genocidal history of this country. He challenged generation after generation to read and think outside the margins of acceptable academic discourse.

*Russia-China-Iran

             Pipeline geopolitics
The inauguration of the Dauletabad-Sarakhs-Khangiran pipeline in early January connecting Iran’s northern Caspian region with Turkmenistan’s vast gas field may go unnoticed amid the Western media cacophony that it is “apocalypse now” for the Islamic regime in Tehran.
The event sends strong messages for regional security. Within the space of three weeks, Turkmenistan has committed its entire gas exports to China, Russia and Iran. It has no urgent need of the pipelines that the United States and the European Union have been advancing. Are we hearing the faint notes of a Russia-China-Iran symphony?
Read more at:
My thoughts: The principal reason for a "war" in Afghanistan was because of the Trans-Afghan pipeline. Are there enough troops there to secure the safety of it's construction? How do the family and friends of troops in Afghanistan feel when they realize their loved ones are losing their lives because of privately owned "interests" in Iraq and Afghanistan? After everything that has already been exposed about those wars, only the naive would  STILL believe those wars were justified to  protect "freedom and democracy."

*Yemen children displaced

Yemen child soldier tells of his hatred for al-Houthi rebels
Jubran, who thinks he is 14 but looks a lot younger, has spent the past few months as a fighter for the Government in the civil war against the al-Houthi rebels. Now the former child soldier is a refugee. With both parents dead, he lives in the squalid al-Mazrak refugee camp near the Saudi border.
The boom of bombs and mortars can still be heard in the distance. “I don’t feel safe in the night. I always feel like a Houthi will be coming to get me,” says Jubran.
“We have nothing to do with Israel or America: we are only fighting for our own land.”

My notes and thoughts:
(1) Yemen's capital is in Sana'a. The president is al-Abdullah Saleh.
(2) Saudi Arabia, the US and Israel support Yemen's government with $$$, military toys and military training.
(3)The Houthis say the Yemen government is supported by anti-Shi'a backers including al-Qaeda. The Yemen government says the Houthis are supporting al-Qaeda.
(4) The Houthis headquarters is in Sa'dah, Yemen. Houthis are also known as Zaidi Shia Islamic rebels. Interestingly the president of Yemen, al-Abdullah Saleh also belongs to the Zaidi sect of Shia Islam.
(5) The Yemen government claims that Houthis are traitors who want to overthrow the republic and reintstall an Islamic imamate system.
(6) The Yemen government accused Shia scholars in Iran, Kuwait and Bahrain of giving support to the Houthis. The Houthis deny this accusation.
(7) "Ali Larijani, speaker of the Iranian parliament is strong in his criticism: “The intervention of the Saudi government in Yemen and repeated bombardment of unprotected Yemeni Muslims by Tornado and F-15 fighters is astounding. How has his Excellency [Saudi King Abdullah], the servant of the two honourable shrines, allowed Muslims’ blood to be spilt in Yemen by means of [Saudi] military devices? The news proves that the U.S. government has been the accomplice and assistant in such suppressive measures.”

*UK intelligence FRONT?

Islam-4Uk exposed as British intelligence front

Islam4UK that proposed a march on Wootton Bassett, is actually a British Intelligence group hired by our corrupt government in order to cause further conflict between Muslims and Brits, to keep support for the wars high and to continue the trumped up threat of terrorism. Anjem Choudary is a unislamic fraud linked to Al-Mujaharoun, a group created by British Mi6 to fight the Serbians in the Kosovo war. Either it came back to bite us on the ass or he is still controlled by our own government! BNP and EDL supporters, and Islam4UK supporters are both dupes, being played like puppets by the new world order (global governance) agenda.

*Blair heckled

                                 Fury at Tony Blair

An unrepentant Tony Blair was heckled and jeered by families of Britain's war dead last night as he declared he had 'not a regret' about invading Iraq and toppling Saddam Hussein.
At the end of what had been billed as his 'Judgment Day', the former Prime Minister made it clear he would do the same again - and warned world leaders they may soon have to take similar decisions over Iran.

Despite the deaths of up to 700,000 Iraqis and 179 British troops, Mr Blair said he felt 'responsibility but not a regret' as he concluded his six hours of evidence to the Chilcot inquiry.

* Al-Majid "silenced"?

Ali Hassan Al-Majid executed in Iraq

Ali Hassan al-Majid (known as "Chemical Ali") was recently hung for his rold in unsing chemical weapons in the Iraqi wars of the 1980's and early 1990's.

"If Majid had been turned over to the International Criminal Court – rather than prosecuted by kangaroo tribunals set up in Iraq by George W. Bush’s administration – he could have been systematically debriefed about what U.S. officials, including George H.W. Bush, did to facilitate Iraq’s acquisition of dangerous chemical weapons."

"...Bush had done his family’s legacy a great service, while also protecting secrets that could have embarrassed other senior U.S. government officials, both past and present."

"By arranging Saddam Hussein's execution, Bush had silenced a unique witness to crucial chapters of the secret history that stretched from Iran’s Islamic revolution in 1979 to the alleged American-Saudi “green light” for Hussein to attack Iran in 1980, through the eight years of the Iran-Iraq War during which high-ranking U.S. intermediaries, such as Donald Rumsfeld and Robert Gates, allegedly helped broker supplies of war materiel for Hussein."

"Hussein now won’t be around to give troublesome testimony about how he obtained the chemical and biological agents that his scientists used for producing the unconventional weapons that were deployed against Iranian forces and Iraqi civilians. He can’t give his perspective on who got the money and who facilitated the deals."

My thoughts: Take a look at my Dec 31, 2009 post titled "Future attack on Iran?" It concerns Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Plant which will be working at full capacity by end of March 2010. It seems more and more certain that there are world leaders who want an attack on Iran before that time.

Iran has not threatened the US or Israel. Ahgmadinejad's talk about "wiping Israel off the map" was a mistranslation...It was false. Iran signed the Arab peace accord that recognized Israel.
Iran has the same right as any other nation for a nuclear program.

*Toxic waste and Haiti

                          "Toxic Waste" at Top News

Two decades ago, the garbage barge, the Khian Sea, with no place in the U.S. willing to accept its garbage, left the territorial waters of the United States and began circling the oceans in search of a country willing to accept its cargo: 14,000 tons of toxic incinerator ash. First it went to the Bahamas, then to the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Bermuda, Guinea Bissau and the Netherlands Antilles. Wherever it went, people gathered to protest its arrival. No one wanted the millions of pounds of Philadelphia municipal incinerator ash dumped in their country.

Desperate to unload, the ship's crew lied about their cargo, hoping to catch a government unawares. Sometimes they identified the ash as "construction material"; other times they said it was "road fill," and still others "muddy waste." But environmental experts were generally one step ahead in notifying the recipients; no one would take it. That is, until it got to Haiti. There, U.S.-backed dictator Baby Doc Duvalier issued a permit for the garbage, which was by now being called "fertilizer," and four thousand tons of the ash was dumped onto the beach in the town of Gonaives.

*Venezuela oil

Hugo Chavez photo at: The Raw Story

Venezuela may have just become the center of an energy-starved world.
The Orinoco Belt, situated squarely underneath the South American nation, may hold some 513 billion barrels of crude oil, according to a new report by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
That's twice the size of Saudi Arabia's oil reserves, placing Venezuela firmly atop the list of oil-rich nations.
The timing of the USGS announcement is striking. On Jan. 28, international firms will take part in an auction for contracts to drill in the Orinoco Belt. The deadline for auction registration was Jan 18, according to industry publication Petroleum World. Results will be announced on Feb. 10.
However, the USGS did not make an estimate of how much oil is actually recoverable. The Orinoco Belt's reserves are typically thick and tar-like, with some patches difficult to reach with current drilling technology.
The announcement is likely to cause waves in Venezuela's political circles, where oil diplomacy has been a key to the country's global outreach. That the estimate comes from a U.S. firm is also likely to sharpen President Chavez's rhetoric, which has in recent months repeatedly decried U.S. military presence in neighboring Colombia.

As recently as November, 2009, Chavez warned Venezuelans to "prepare for war" with the United States and Colombia, arguing that rapidly expanding defense spending was prudent in the face of such a perceived threat. The U.S. State Department claimed its agreement, settled in August, allows U.S. soldiers to operate drone aircraft from Colombian military bases as a way of prosecuting the drug war.

*Bad day for democracy

                                 Ballotbox from Public interest Alberta

On Thursday, Jan 21st the American Supreme Court made a decision that NO corporation can be constrained from unlimited influence over our elections. Since some American companies are owned by non-Americans, that means that there is nothing to constrain foreigners nor "enemies" from controlling our government and controlling whom to elect for office.  Why bother to vote when real Americans will now have no true voice? Why bother expressing our concerns when the big money guys will have all the control.. control to protect their OWN "interests" by "donations" (bribes) to whomever THEY want in office?

"As Justice John Paul Stevens wrote in his dissent, 'the court’s opinion is thus a rejection of the common sense of the American people, who have recognized a need to prevent corporations from undermining self government since the founding, and who have fought against the distinctive corrupting potential of corporate electioneering since the days of Theodore Roosevelt.'"
"Justice Stevens explained that corporations are not themselves members of 'We the People' by whom and for whom our Constitution was established."

*Fight over Jerusalem

Panorama: A walk in the park part 1/3

BBC Panorama: A Walk in the Park, from 18 January 2010. Jane Corbin walks through the disputed streets and parks of Jerusalem.

Even though East Jerusalem has been historically Christian Palestinian, many American Christians will say the Israelis have rights to these lands. Many of these same American Christians will NOT be bothered with this video. They will come up with excuses for the  Israelis and will come up with many reasons to blame the victims.. the Palestinians.

What the Israelis are doing is illegal under UN resolutions and against international law. Why is it difficult for Americans to understand the anger of the Palestinians? Answer: the US media only shows one side. Some will say that the land has always belonged to the Israelis because the land was promised to Abraham and to "his seed." But the Israelis abandoned the land. Just the fact that they have returned doesn't mean they automatically have the right to throw out the people presently living there.. the Palestinians.

Israeli marchers to Obama: Let my people grow

My thoughts: The Israelis continue to thumb their nose at UN resolutions pertaining to them. The Israelis continue to refuse the building of illegal Israeli settlements on Palestinian territory. The international community sees the one sided view point the US has towards the Israel/Palestintian problem and that the US is indeed Israel's poodle.

*CIA runs military?

US House Rep. Ron Paul says the CIA has in effect carried out a "coup" against the US government, and the intelligence agency needs to be "taken out."
Speaking to an audience of like-minded libertarians at aCampaign for Liberty regional conference in Atlanta this past weekend, the Texas Republican said:
There's been a coup, have you heard? It's the CIA coup. The CIA runs everything, they run the military. They're the ones who are over there lobbing missiles and bombs on countries. ... And of course the CIA is every bit as secretive as the Federal Reserve. ... And yet think of the harm they have done since they were established [after] World War II. They are a government unto themselves. They're in businesses, in drug businesses, they take out dictators ... We need to take out the CIA.
Paul's comments, made last weekend, were met with a loud round of applause, but they didn't gather attention until bloggers noticed a clip of the event at YouTube.
Paul appeared to be referring to news reports that the CIA is deeply involved in air strikes against Al Qaeda targets in Afghanistan and Pakistan. A suicide bombing late last year against Forward Operating Base Chapman in Afghanistan took the lives of seven of CIA operatives, including twocontracted from Blackwater. The event highlighted the CIA's deep involvement in the war effort.

Paul's reference to the CIA being "in the drug business" refers to long-running allegations that the CIA has funded some of its covert operations with proceeds from drug-running. That claim was most famously made in a 1996 investigative report from the San Jose Mercury-News, which alleged that cocaine from the Contra-Sandinista civil war in Nicaragua was making its way to the streets of L.A. via the CIA.

Silence is betrayal (MLK anti-war speech)

It's sad that in this country, anyone who speaks out AGAINST a war is called "unpatriotic."
