* Israel's NUKE program

The American sanitized media is silent about this story.

1950's - Israel, with France's support, begins building a nuclear reactor and reprocessing plant.

1960 - The US discovers Israel's Dimona reactor. TIME magazine reports: "...a non-Communist non-NATO country had made an "atomic develoment."

1965 - 1969 - Once a year US nuclear specialists inspect Dimona reactor.

1968 - American CIA reports to President Johnson that Israel had already made an atomic bomb.

1969 - Israel limits inspection visits by US scientists.

1970 - President Nixon ends the visits to the Israel Dimona reactor.

1974 - CIA continued to report on Israel's nuclear weapon progress and during this year cites Israeli acquisition of large quantities of uranium, partly by clandestine means as further evidence that Israel already has produced nuclear weapons.

1976 - CIA Deputy Director for Science and Technology Carl Duckett reports that Israel was already making bombs with plutonium produced in its Dimona reactor.

1979 - 1983 - Evidence of Israeli nuclear testing and nuclear weapons usage.

1986 - Mordecai Vanunu, who has worked at the Dimona site for 8 years, provides the world with the first detailed account of Israel's nuclear weapon progress. He gives the London Sunday Times a series of photos he had taken within the Israeli nuclear weapons facility at Dimona. Vanunu's information indicated that Israel had also built thermonuclear weapons. "It is believed that at Dimona, Vanunu became increasingly troubled about the Israeli nuclear weapons programme on which he worked and possible Israeli nuclear strategies in the event of war."

2004 - Mordecai Vanunu is released from prison after spending 11 1/2 years solitary confinement in a 6-by-9 foot cell under conditions that Amnesty International called "cruel, inhuman and degrading."

Dec 2006 - In an interview, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert comes close to breaking with Israel's policy of nuclear opacity, saying that Iran aspires to "to have a nuclear weapon as America, France, ISRAEL and Russia."

Dec 2009 - Despite the fact that the authorities knew that Mordecai Vanunu had a 2 year relationship with his Norwegian girlfriend, Mordecai Vanunu is arrested and accused of talking to foreigners, in breach of conditions imposed on his release. (1)

My thoughts: Everytime Mordecai Vanunu is arrested, the world is reminded that Israel not only has a nuclear weapons facility, Israel is also NOT a signatory of the Nuclear Non-proliferation treaty. Iran IS a signatory of the treaty and has opened it's facilities up for inspection. Israel has NOT. It's about time Israel should comply to International law.
Israel is currently believed to possess between 75 and 400 nuclear warheads. Israel also is believed to have the ability to deliver these nuclear warheads by intercontinental ballistic missile, aircraft and submarines.
