*"Inevitable" killings

Civilian casualities "inevitable" in largest military operation of the Afghanistan war

Around 15,000 coalition troops made up of American, NATO and British troops are now taking part in "Operation Mushtarak" in Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan.  Afghan security forces are also involved in order to not give the appearance that this is an invasion by foreigners. This offensive is against a major Taliban stronghold. Despite the fact that the residents of Marjah were warned ahead of time of this offensive, the majority of them stayed in their homes. It's the dead of winter in Afghanistan. Where were these people expected to go to? Marines, Afghan soldiers take on harsh weather conditions in Helmand Province - (Feb 13, 2010)

Helmand Province has always been of "interest" since the start of the war  9 years ago AND this this is not the first time for such an offensive in Marjah.

Helmand Province is the world's largest opium (poppy) growing area. It's also the area where the Trans-Afghan Pipeline, which is being built right now is expected to go through on to it's way to Pakistan. This pipeline was also the principal reason why the US wanted to  wage a "war" in Afghanistan. Our military troops are killing and being killed to protect money making "interests" in the area. They are acting as security personnel for the big money money guys who are making more and more money wheeling and dealing in drugs, oil and gas.
