*FALSE e-mail

This e-mail and photo of President Obama is again making the rounds on the Internet:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THERE IS JUST NO WAY THAT THIS IS OK…NO WAY…..
And what was it he said to all of you that were in Washington, DC last week…don't question my religion?
Oh, yes, Obama prays all right:

HE PRAYS WITH THE MUSLIMS!!
This is OUR President at a MOSQUE prayer session LAST WEEK AT THE WHITE HOUSE, on the site where the INAUGURATION is held every 4 years!
He canceled OUR CHRISTIAN "NATIONAL!!! DAY * * OF PRAYER"…. Now THIS.
For Obama to continue as our president is an INSULT TO OUR FOUNDING FATHERS!
AND DISGUSTING TO EVERY RED BLOODED AMERICAN***
Forward this to every American Citizen as the media won't!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
My thoughts: The e-mail above is FALSE.
This incident did NOT take place at the White House or anywhere in DC. It took place during a 2 day state visit to Turkey in April 2009.  It is of a visit to the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. It's required that ALL visitors remove their shoes before entering. You may enter this mosque to SIGHTSEE the interior. Prayer with Muslims who may be inside the mosque is NOT required.

The photo does NOT show President Obama observing "Islamic Prayer Day" in DC nor in Istanbul. There is NO national "Islamic Prayer Day" acknowledged or observed by the White House. The person who started this e-mail may have confused the private prayer service held on Capitol Hill in September 2009 with an officially designated Islamic prayer day?

The National Day of Prayer (American) is held on the first Thursday of May. Last May in 2009, President Obama decided NOT to hold a White House service, but instead issued a public proclamation and observed the occasion privately. The previous President Bush indeed held a more grand PUBLIC service, with a party included, but did that in any way reflect on his "Christian values"? I think not.

Nevertheless photos such as this are labeled incorrectly and unfortunately being used to manipulate American's viewpoints and beliefs. Is it difficult to understand why it was too EASY to manipulate the majority of Americans to believe that a war with Iraq was justified?
